About the Role:
As the Director of Software Engineering, you will lead a team of 20 software engineers across three locations, driving innovation and ensuring the successful development of the company’s premier AR products. Reporting to senior leadership, you will play a pivotal role in product strategy, stakeholder communication, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of the company’s flagship products and new software initiatives.
- Manage and mentor a geographically distributed team of engineers, fostering collaboration and growth.
- Conduct code reviews and challenge engineers to maintain top-quality software standards.
- Drive strategic roadmapping and ensure products are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
- Act as a key liaison for stakeholders, including defense customers, investors, and partners.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- U.S. Citizenship (required for security clearance).
- 6+ years of hands-on experience with C++ development.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams of 10+ engineers.
- Strong experience with Linux systems.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and CI/CD methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills for both internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Background in defense, weapons systems, AR/VR, or aerospace technology.
- Master’s degree in a STEM field.
- Understanding of military/defense standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO/IEC 12207).
